About UsThe Singer/Songwriter's for St. Jude benefit concert was created by Del McGee as THE ultimate St. Jude fundraiser, showcasing the talents of local singer/songwriters from around North Alabama.
What started as a few guys raising $57 in donations for St. Jude Children's Hospital has turned in to the one of the Top 20 online fundraisers through St. Jude's "Fundraise Your Way" platform. In the last few years, Brandon Bishop and Sandy Patel have stepped up to help Del pull off this event while increasing the amount of donations collected. And above all, the Singer/Songwriters - they are the true servants of this event. They share the talent, heart, and energy that some have developed over a lifetime! Thank you so much! |
Who We Are: |
The event is a grass roots effort orchestrated by friends - Del McGee, Brandon Bishop, and Sandy Patel of Madison, AL. The founder, Del McGee, is supported by friends, family, and fellow Singer/Songwriters in putting on this event.

Message from the Founder: |
"I grew up near the Alabama state line in southern Lawrence county Tennessee. My Mom's best friend, and our neighbor, June and EM Clayton had a daughter - her name was Judy. She had the most beautiful blue eyes you've ever seen and light blonde hair, and she had my number. Sharp as a whip. She didn't miss a thing. Unfortunately, she died when she was 11, and if they ever did know what she died of, they never did tell us kids.
She was my friend. I started this around 1996 when a couple of friends that were morning DJ's on a local country radio station were doing a fundraiser for St Jude. They asked me if they could come out to my show and do some fundraising. I said 'Sure' and they did. That's how it got started. I was playing just by myself around Huntsville and I would play for anyone that would listen or give me a dollar. I think the first year, I made $57 in donations, I put $30 of the $75 I made playing the gig that night with it and my donation that year was $87. I took $20 of the remaining $45 and bought groceries, and put $25 in the bank to go toward my electric bill. It was a good week." - Del McGee |
